| The Little Theater of China,which was born in the 1980 s,derived from the concept and practice of Western Drama.It was also a product of coping with drama crisis.Under the influence of market power,the Little Theater of China entered the public’s eyes after more than 30 years’ exploration and experimentation.However,the Little Theater that has become prosperous in Beijing,Shanghai,Guangzhou and other cities,did not find a way to develop in Xi’an.The Dahua·1935 Theater is one of the several theaters that perform professional Little Theater Drama in Xi’an.It also contains a special cultural significance and status for being the name card of the Dahua·1935 Cultural and Creative Park,which was transformed from a precious industrial site.Therefore,this paper takes the Dahua·1935 Theater as the research object,and uses field observation as well as personal interview,content analysis and text analysis to try to analyze the Dahua·1935 Theater as a framework and the meaning for spatial media construction from the perspective of the Third Space.First,this paper sorts out the origin and meaning of the concept Little Theater and the Third Space,and also discusses the rationality of studying Dahua·1935 Theater as a “Third Space" and a medium at the same time,which concludes a plausible Third Space analysis framework for the Dahua·1935 Theater.Second,this paper starts from the material space and analyses the expression and significance of architectural symbols in Dahua·1935 Theater.Then,this paper aims the research field at the spiritual space constructed by Dahua·1935 Theater.And the space image constructed by the articles of We Chat public account and the drama of little theatre will be analysed.In the end,the research perspective of this paper turns to the practical space which is closely related to material space and spiritual space.After examining the impromptu activities at performance scene inside the theater,and the practical activities organized by official staff outside the theater,the implications behind these practices will be clear.Overall,this paper discovers that the space existence of Dahua·1935 Theater is dialectically related to history and society,and It is influenced by the history and society of Dahua Textile Factory as well as some other factors,which results in both nostalgia and fashionable characteristics of its symbolic representation of material space.Through the three interactiveelements: material space,spiritual space and practice space from the Third Space,the Dahua·1935 Theater has constructed a spatial media with reach meanings,which is characterized by nostalgia and fashion,excavating the local drama culture of Xi’an and presenting a variety of drama,close to the audience through activities of drama,spreading drama and letting it walk into the daily life of the audience. |
