| This research is based on the sample of students in Dalian University of Technology to study the identity orientations from the perspective of identity ranking.Through the method of quantitative analysis, this research attempts to find out the current status of identity orientations of college students and to predict the factors that influence different samples from diverse academic backgrounds.Finally,240 students have participated in the samples. This study adopts multivariate analysis of variance, multiple regression and other statistical techniques to analyze the data by data analysis software,SPSS 23.0.From the perspective of identity ranking, personal identity orientations rank as the first place of the overall respondents.Unexpectedly, the collective identity aspects rank in the last. The result of MANOVA shows that males’ self-perceptions of identity orientations are significantly different from that of females.Meanwhile, the overseas experience also has certain impact on the students’ identity orientations. Moreover, year of study, hometown or other variables have no positive effect on identity orientations. The results of multiple regressions reveal that the best predictors for sciences and arts are the same factor:personal identity orientations. The research also shows that there is significant difference between English majors and non-English majors for their identity orientations. Therefore, for college students, collective identity orientation and collectivistic value orientation should take into account. Moreover, academic background and engagement of other cultures are crucial for their identity orientations and intercultural recognition, which should draw attention of university. All in all,the findings of this research provide some empirical data and reference for the construction of cultural atmosphere and cultural teaching in universities. |
