Study On New Founded Epitaph Of Liu In Taishi In Khitan Large Script

The newly found Epitaph of "Liuyin Taishi in Khitan large script" is an unpublished material.There are 25 lines,totaling about 995 characters,that handwriting is clear and well preserved.This epitaph contains many new combinations of characters and some names of people,tribes and officials not seen in another epitaph,which is a new material of khitan characters with important research value.This paper makes a systematic study of epitaph on the basis of extensive reference to previous research result.Firstly,the author carefully check different rubbing and epitaph pictures to see the glyph,completed the computer recorded text.Secondly,in order to provide a transcript with high credibility for the academic community,the author,on the basis of carefully completing the computer recording,annotated the Khithan large Chinese charecters in the epitaph,including new Chinese characters,incomplete Chinese charecters,vague Chinese characters and other Khithan large Chinese characters which were blurred and miscopied by predecessors.Furthermore,the meaning of the epitaph has been annotated by referring to the previous interpretation results.On this basis,with other Khitan Epitaph,"History of Liao" and other relevant documents and materials,the text is interpreted verbatim.On the basis of previous studies,the author identified 18 new words of Khitan big scripts and 6 groups of variant characters,and interpreted王估(?)、(?)帝、(?)etc.new Khitan words.The meaning of batch of khitan characters,such as 亽(?)、(?)、(?)was deduced from the corresponding meaning of khitan small characters.Secondly,according to the pronunciation of Khitan small characters,the pronunciation of(?)、(?)、(?)and other Khitan big characters was proposed.Again,the author tries to interpret the meaning of 4 khitan names and the meaning of 1 word of Khitan small script.Finally,combining with the "History of Liao",The author interpreted王估 to"Wang Zi Ban",王估(?)to " Wang Zi Si Tu ",so as to draw the conclusion that"Wang Zi Si Tu" and other official positions really exist.
