With the the rapid development of information technology,the channels for acquiring knowledge are diverse.For students,learning can no longer be simply guided by teachers.Students must actively change their learning style from relying on teachers to learning actively,and improve the ability of autonomous learning,so that they can adapt to the learning society.However,in the past years,the rate of enrollment was favored in secondary education,and cultivating students' ability of autonomous learning was neglected.As a result,when some students enter the university,the learning environment is relatively relaxing,and there is a lack of teachers' spurs,and students' ability of autonomous learning is relatively low,so these students can't reach the learning status that university students should have.Autonomous learning is still one of the hotspots in the education research field at home and abroad.The research scope of autonomous learning is very broad,including its connotation,influencing factors and development strategies,etc.Autonomous learning has also been widely studied in various disciplines.In the discipline of English,there are many studies on autonomous learning,but there are still few studies on autonomous learning ability in English listening.This paper is to study the autonomous learning ability in English listening of non-English major undergraduates.The purpose is to find out the autonomous learning ability in English listening of non-English major undergraduates,to find out the possible problems they have,and then to put forward some countermeasures.This study selected 379 non-English major undergraduates from a university in Chongqing as the research objects.Based on a large amount of literature,this paper combed the relevant concepts and defined the autonomous learning,ability and autonomous learning ability.Then,with reference to the description of autonomous learning by Pang Weiguo,a questionnaire was prepared.After the questionnaire was distributed and retrieved in a small scope,the reliability and validity were tested.The questionnaire was statistically significant,so it was distributed widely,and then the SPSS and Excel were used to analyze collected data.And then 15 non-English major undergraduates were randomly interviewed.After analyzing the data,the following results were obtained: non-English major undergraduates have a certain ability to learn autonomously,but the following problems exist: students have a strong willingness to learn autonomously,but their listening behaviors and awareness are inconsistent;the overall level of autonomous learning ability in English listening and the level of some aspects are not ideal;the learning environment for autonomous learning affects students' autonomous learning consciousness and behavior to a certain extent.Then,in view of the above problems,this paper proposes the following suggestions from five aspects: enhancing students' willpower control;stimulating students' internal learning motivation;training students to using learning methods;cultivating students' metacognitive strategies to improve their planning,monitoring and evaluation skills;creating a good learning environment for students,paying attention not only to the upgrading of hardware facilities,but also to the rational allocation of software conditions.
