This thesis takes Jinhua dialect demonstrative as its research object.According to the linguistic typology,it describes the functions of Jinhua dialect demonstrative in terms of syntax, semantic and pragmatic. It explores the source of demonstrative?[g??4],?[n??21],?[m??21],?[go?212]in Jinhua dialect and analyzes the grammaticalization phenomenon associated with the demonstrative. At the syntax level,Jinhua dialect demonstratives“?”“?”“?”and“?”are different from"this"and"that"of Mandarin. They cannot be used as arguments alone, but function mainly as a limiting component of quantifiers or numerals, which belong to demonstrative determiners. At the semantic level,by analyzing the"Gospel of John"?1866?,this project compares the early Jinhua dialect demonstratives and the modern Jinhua dialect demonstratives. In the early stage,“?”is a neutral demonstrative and“?”belongs to the far-finger indication in the non-visible range, and is mainly used to indicate time and place. At the pragmatic level, according to the pragmatic functions theory of the Himmelmann?1996?,this thesis analyzes the Jinhua dialect demonstratives from the aspects of individual, place, time, number, extent, status and manner. Then it analyzes the use of the demonstratives non-referential.Finally,according to the theory of"The Location morpheme-demonstrative cycle in Wu dialects”,the project analyzes the source of basic demonstratives“?”“?”“?”and“?”in Jinhua dialect.“?”“?”and“?”are not homologous.“?”comes from locational demonstrative[nan312],“?”comes from the locational morpheme“?”,and“?”comes from the chorus of“?+t/d/no?”.“?”comes from the individual quantifier“?”.Before it officially became a near-finger demonstrative,it also experienced the stage of“?+NP”that also appeared in the early Wu dialects, such as Shanghai dialect,Taizhou dialect and Wenzhou dialect.
