The New States Of Wang Zheng’s Scenery Poem And Prose

Lingxi is an unique place where revealed its own cultural charm from Ming Dynasty to Qing Dynasty after a long term precipitation.In that period,the literary circles of Lingxi were crowded with poets.And Wang Zheng was the excellent one of them.Wang Zheng,one of the “the Five Masters of Lingxi”,praised highly Tong Cheng School and was good at poetry and painting.His Painting Theory of Shape and Spirit won himself a place in Lingnan painting group.Due to family doctrine of Confucianism and ethics and the frustration of political career,Wang Zheng developed far-reaching and decent writing style of his poem.Wang Zheng’s grandfather,a strict man of integrity,set himself as an example and had great influence on the development of Wang Zheng’s personality of caring for people.Wang Zheng’s mother and eldest sister were strict in education and emphasized benevolence and filial piety.Losing his parents in his childhood,Wang Zheng stared to make friends,participate in elegant poetry gathering to learn from each other and make progress in poem at fifteen or sixteen years old.Becoming an idle officer,he often went sightseeing of famous mountains and rivers at leisure.This is the reason why his poems are of great mind and bosom.Due to the obstruction of mountains and rivers,Lingxi,a beautiful place,was away from the Central Plains.Wang Zheng,who often went out of Lingxi,had different views of the scenery,which overflowed from his poems and words.Wang Zheng’s natural and fresh writing style is also related to his study of the predecessors,Tongcheng School.Wang Zheng has benefited a lot from Liu Zongyuan’s fresh and clear landscape poems and Gui Youguang’s sincere and moving essays,which can be seen in his writing.He stressed “meaning and organization”,which means that article should have content and should be skilled with layers and putted in order.Therefore,Wang Zheng’s poems and proses are pure and decent.In the middle and late Qing Dynasty,the thought that knowledge has to be contributed to national affairs has spread in society.This practical thought also affected cultural creation.Wang Zheng stressed practicability and pursued "true intentions",thus bringing a clear stream into scenery writing and opening up a new perspective for writing.Miserable family,social unrest and unsmooth career made Wang Zheng had the feeling that there is little contribution to the world.Therefore,the writing about fresh and beautiful scenery actually reflects his thoughts of retreat.During Daoguang and Xianfeng period of Qing Dynasty,the literary circles was argument-oriented.Wang Zheng’s poem broke a new path and create a new perspective of writing.From the careful observation of life,he wrote the beautiful and fresh scenery out of Lingxi;from outlander’s point of view,he described abrupt mountains and wide champaign in North;from the feelings of soul converts,he wrote picturesque landscape of scenery in Jiangnan.Although Wang Zheng didn’t wipe out the characteristic of argument-oriented in his scenery poems,it was enough refreshing.Comparing with the boring argument,Wang Zheng caught the beauty of nature and started his fresh and natural writing— textural context of montage style,overall layout of panoramic view,detailed description of partitive,static narrative expression that reflects the dynamism,interlocking logical structure,novel and diverse writing style,specialty of describing water and expressing emotions,both great overall and subtle description and perfect harmony with scenery and emotions,which marked a new states of poetry in an era.Wang Zheng learned from the writing skill of ancient scenery prose in Tang and Song Dynasty and carried on the style of Tong Cheng School,especially Mei’s writing strategies.With the combination of unique life background and advantages of predecessors,he developed his fresh and beautiful writing styles.
