MIF(Mental image flash)is the decoded image in one's brain corresponding to the activation of a word.In English language comprehension,a great number of Chinese English learners have to interpret the meaning with the help of Chinese, and can not decode directly from English language. In translation practice, they convert words from one language to another language without the appearance of MIF.The author applies the approaches of philosophy, psychology, linguistics, neuroscience and translation to the building of MIF.The author applies the frontier theories in the relevant fields to translation studies, hoping to make up for the shortage of research in this field and gain inspiration from the research. The author put forward the strategies for the building of MIF from lexical level to syntactical level, and then to pragmatic level;reexamined the previous translation theories;put forward the deficiency and improvement for the previous theories;discussed some problems we have argued for a long time in translation studies, such as the faithfulness and expressiveness, and elegance, the cognitive process in simultaneous interpretation, the creation in translation, translator's style;and made some attempts on the building of translation theories.
