The website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China is China's most authoritative diplomatic information website.The news translation on the website is a window and platform for foreign people to understand and pay attention to China's foreign policy.After participating in the website's C-E news translation project,the author realized that translation revision competence(TRC)is critical to a good translation.The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationship between the newly constructed TRC model and the quality of translation by establishing a new extended model based on previous TC model,TRC model and a model of post-editing competence.Qualitative and quantitative research methods were adopted to empirically explore whether the new TRC model can improve the revision quality,and the quality of the translation.In this experiment,the 30 participants were student and teacher revisers.The material was selected from the news translation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.Its length is about 350 words.The participants were divided into teacher group and student group.Each group was divided into experimental group and control group.The experimental group and the control group were asked to do the pretest-posttest revision tasks.The experimental group revised under the guidance of the TRC model,while the control group remains unchanged.At the end of the experiment,the data was collected.Paired sample t-tests were performed on the experimental group and the control group respectively,and the independent sample t-test was performed between the teacher group and the student group.After the experiment,questionnaires and interviews were conducted to supplement the results of the analysis.The experimental results show that: 1)for student group and teacher group:revisers' performance in two experimental groups and the control groups in the pretest has no difference,whereas the experimental group performs better than the control group in the posttest.This demonstrates that the application of the TRC model helpsto improve revision quality and translation quality.2)the comparison between the student group and the teacher shows that although the revision quality of the teacher group is still better than that of the student group,the student group made much more progress under the guidance of TRC model.3)results collected from questionnaires and interview show that most of the participants are not familiar with the translation revision.They suggest that related courses be opened by institutions of higher education,and that translators have more access to translation revision practice to enhance translators' market competitiveness.
