E-C Translation Of Metaphors In Kenya Related News Project From The Perspective Of Cognitive Sociolinguistics

China-Africa relations become more and more strong after years of development.The exchanges between the governments and non-governments between China and Africa have become increasingly frequent,and the two sides have achieved fruitful achievement in the fields of economy,politics,health care and other fields,establishing a model for South-South cooperation and providing China's solutions for global governance.The 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation provides a broader world for the cooperation between China and African countries.The people of China and Africa need to know each other's politics,economy,culture,life and other aspects.News,as a carrier of effective information,is a window for obtaining information.However,there are few studies on African news translation in China,so it is of great significance to the study of metaphor translation in Kenyan news.Language,a cognitive activity,is the result of human cognition of the objective world.At the same time,language is a cultural phenomenon,which not only influences culture,but also is restricted by culture.In view of this,this thesis explores metaphor translation in the China Communications Construction Company Nairobi-Malaba News Translation Project from the perspective of Cognitive Sociolinguistics.To achieve the research purposes,this thesis adopts Jonathan Edwin Dunn's Measuring and Identifying Metaphor-In-Language(MIMIL)metaphor identification method and Word Smith Tools to identify the metaphors in the news with the help of a self-built corpus.Based on the news types,this study divides the metaphors in the Project into four types: political,economic,cultural,and social metaphors.Then the author proposes three practical metaphor translation techniques for the difficulties encountered in the translation process,namely,deleting the metaphor image,replacing the metaphor image with others,and retaining the metaphor image,in pursuit of providing some translation reference for follow-up translators involved in Kenyan translation practice.
