A Comparative Study Of The Cultural Narrative Of Chinese And Japanese "Journey To The West" Animation

As a sample of important stories in the five-dimensional "meta story" of "Cultural China",Journey to the West has a key role in building Chinese image and spreading Chinese discourse.However,in the international perspective,people’s impressions of the Journey to the West are based on the animation of the Westward Journey in Japan.The source of the Journey to the West-Chinese Westward Journey has not formed an international influence.Therefore,we urgently need to make full use of the traditional story of the Journey to the West to provide a story text for shaping the Chinese image and spreading Chinese discourse.This paper takes 94 representative Chinese and Japanese Westward animation samples as research samples,and comprehensively uses the relevant theories of classical narratology,film and animation narratology and cultural narratology to carry out the story text,cultural symbols and rhetorical vision of Chinese and Japanese Westward Journey animation.The comparative analysis and the narrative strategy to improve the international influence of China’s Westward Journey animation have important theoretical and practical significance.This paper focuses on the comparative study of the differences between Chinese and Japanese Westward animation from three perspectives.First,from the perspective of the choice of story texts,the original texts and anime texts of the Chinese and Japanese Westward anime narratives are compared and analyzed,and then the different cultural values behind the analysis are compared.Secondly,from the perspective of Chinese and Japanese Western anime characters,audio-visual,time and space Contrasting and analyzing the differences in symbolic representation between Chinese and Japanese Westward Anime,and analyzing the narrative discourse connotation behind the symbols;thirdly,comparing and analyzing the cultural rhetoric perspectives of Chinese and Japanese Westward Anime,focusing on the culture of the Westward Anime of the two countries Differences in values discourse,national cultural discourse,and ideological discourse.Drawing lessons from the case of Japan’s Journey to the West,it provides useful inspiration for the discourse expression of China’s WestwardJourney animation in the world.In summary,this paper further proposes three narrative strategies to improve the international influence of China’s Westward Journey animation: a text-selection-oriented text selection strategy,a symbolic strategy based on the IP of the four models of mentorship,and a shared value Cultural rhetoric strategy for vision.
