| As a corporate "business card",English company profile plays a crucial role in international business activities, therefore, the quality of the translation of banking corporate profiles needs to be given importance and improved.Nominalization is the most common linguistic phenomenon in written English, and it can make the discourse more concise, formal and objective. The research on nominalization has made great progress, but scant attention has been paid to the investigation on the nominalization of Chinese company profiles and its translation. This paper aims to study the nominalization used in Chinese banking company profiles and explore feasible translation strategies from the perspective of systemic-functional grammar with the qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis. The author constructs a contrastive corpus and a parallel one with 30 banking enterprise profiles,30 Chinese banking enterprise profiles and their English versions, and compares the nominalization used in these corpora so as to propose Chinese-English translation strategies of nominalization in the company profile. The data analyzed shows that(1)there is a significant difference in the use of nominalization between the English version of the Chinese company profile and the English banking company profile.(2)At the lexical level, the differences in the nominalization of suffixation, conversion and the nominalization of quality process and the circumstance process is significant.(3)Compared with the English translation, the nominalization in the Chinese corporate profile is less used both on the lexical level and the clausal level. The reasons for such differences can be attributed to linguistic features and thinking mode and cultural differences. Therefore, the author proposes some translation strategies to make the translation idiomatic. |
