Financial industry plays a big part in international cooperation and competition.A C-E translation of financial text is of great significance for domestic financial institutions to engage in global financial activities. The report analyzes three types of translation problems based on the practice of C-E translation of Bank of China Limited 2017 Annual Report: 1)translation of financial terminologies including failure to adopt accepted financial terms and no equivalents in the target language;2)translation of proper nouns including nonstandard translation of currency symbols and mistranslation of banking businesses' names;3)translation of sentences with ambiguous logic and redundant information. The source text falls into the category of financial text and is characterized by informative function, which intends to accurately convey financial information to the target readers and fulfill communicative purpose in an effective way by adopting specific financial language.Since the target text is expected to achieve the same function as the source text, the form of equifunctional translation under instrumental translation proposed by Christine Nord is a workable approach to achieve the purpose in the translation of the financial text.Equifunctional translation aims to achieve equivalence in information and communicative effect, under which the target text is intended to achieve the same function as the source text.Specifically speaking, such translation methods as adaptation, paraphrase, addition and deletion should be adopted for solutions to the above-mentioned problems. The preliminary research on the report is expected to provide enlightenment for the translation of financial text.
