Learning style,proposed by Herbert Thelen in 1954,displays individual differences of foreign language learners.It has been paid more and more attention by foreign language teachers and researchers at home and abroad.As one important part of learning style,perceptual learning style has also received the keen attention of scholars from all walks of life.In classroom teaching,in order to get effective learning and teaching results,the studies on students' perceptual learning style are becoming more and more necessary.This paper makes an experienced investigation on the English perceptual learning styles of senior two students,hoping to lay a foundation to English teaching and research.Based on the information processing,multiple intelligence and Reid's perceptual learning style,this study,by Reid's perceptual learning style questionnaire,combined with students' final examination results and interviews,investigates the English perceptual learning style of 159 senior two students in Huairen No.1 Middle School.Finally,SPSS 22.0 is used to carry out descriptive statistics,independent sample T test and correlation analysis for the collected data.The purpose of this study is to explore the following three questions:(1)What are the characteristics of senior two students' English perceptual learning style as a whole?(2)Are there sex differences in the perceptual learning styles of students? What kinds of differences do they have?(3)What is the academic performance of students with different perceptual learning styles? What is the correlation between them?The results show that:(1)Senior two students use a variety of learning styles in English learning,in which kinesthetic and tactile type are preferred by students,but group learning style is paid much less attention.(2)There is no significant difference in students' perceptual learning styles between male and female students.(3)The perceptual learning style and students' English learning achievements show a significant and positive correlation.There is significant difference in perceptual learning style between higher and lower group in visual,auditory,kinesthetic and individual learning style.In view of these results,the author puts forward some suggestions from four aspects of schools,teachers,students and parents.First of all,schools should shoulder the heavy responsibilities of teaching,guiding and giving substantive support to teachers.Secondly,teachers should constantly adjust their teaching styles to adapt to the different learning styles of students.Thirdly,students should understand their learning styles,and strive to expand their learning styles to adapt to different learning environments.Finally,parents should update their educational concepts to adapt to the development and changes of students.
