Marine accident news is an important channel for people to get information about maritime accidents, and also an important material for the people in the relevant field to learn lessons. This paper selects 14,157 words of news texts about marine accidents as the research object. The types of accidents mainly include collision, grounding, sinking, capsizing, fire, explosion and other marine accidents. The computer-aided translation tool Tmxmall is selected to translate marine accident news for it is characterized by many terminologies and the texts of high repetition rate.By the preparation of pre-translation,including the establishment of translation memory and terminology database and also the analysis of matching rate,Tmxmall can provide an accurate translation of some abbreviations and terms, phrases and simple sentences with higher matching rates, and ensure the consistency of the terms. However, due to the limitations of translation memory and terminology database, some translations of Tmxmall are still inaccurate, and inconsistent with the expression of Chinese. To solve these problems, first of all,the preliminary ambiguous versions of the ship name, headlines, numbers and symbols that are particularly created by Tmxmall are processed in post-editing based on Katharina Reiss’s text typology. And for phrases and simple sentences with low matching rate, this paper applies the translation methods of addition, omission, free translation and conversion,so as to convey the original texts accurately and make the translation consistent with the code and expression of Chinese. From the pre-translation preparation to the translation stage, the computer-aided translation tool Tmxmall has fully played its important assistant role, and maximizes the quality and efficiency of translation. It is hoped that this paper is of special references to translators and others concerned.
