The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China(CPC)has set goals for the development of cultural undertakings and industries:to strengthen the construction of international dissemination capabilities,to tell Chinese stories well, and to show a real, multidimensional and comprehensive China. This goal has pointed out a new development direction for the teaching of college English and English major in colleges and universities. For a long time,Chinese culture has been neglected in English teaching, which has resulted in many students' Chinese culture aphasia. However, under the background of "telling Chinese stories well",the teaching content ignoring Chinese culture is no longer applicable for the teaching of college English and English major. The input of Chinese culture-related contents is urgently needed in English teaching. This study mainly explores the effects of English reading input of Chinese culture on English majors' related translation output. This thesis mainly puts forward the following 4 research questions:1.What is students' attitude towards the learning of Chinese culture and the learning of the English translation of Chinese culture?2.What kind of English reading materials on Chinese culture should be selected and input?3.Can the English reading input of Chinese culture promote students' related translation output?4.In what aspects does the English reading input of Chinese culture affect students' related translation output?Based on the Input Hypothesis and Output Hypothesis, this thesis adopts both qualitative and quantitative research methods.72 junior students of English major from the Changsha University of Science&Technology take part in the tests, questionnaire surveys and interviews. One class is the experimental class. In addition to the original plan of teaching, the students in the experimental class are asked to read the English reading materials on Chinese culture after class.Another class is the control class.Except for the original plan of teaching, the students in the control class aren't provided with any English reading materials on Chinese culture after class. The experimental period is 2 months.Statistical analysis is carried out by using SPSS 25.0.The experimental results show:Most of the students agree that the learning of Chinese culture and the learning of the English translation of Chinese culture are necessary;English reading materials on Chinese culture should be as closely related to the texts in the textbooks as possible, and the categories of Chinese culture that students relatively lack interests in should be paid more attention to whether their materials are interesting or not,and the reading materials should be excellent Chinese culture in line with the concept of the new era;English reading input of Chinese culture can promote students' related translation output, and it mainly promotes students' English translation output of Chinese culture in the aspects of language accuracy, fluency and complexity;.Thus it can be seen that the input of English reading materials of Chinese culture in English teaching is feasible and meaningful. This practice can promote students' English translation output of Chinese culture, enhance their ability to express Chinese culture in English to meet the needs of the society for English talents who can "tell Chinese stories well",and can also facilitate the dissemination of Chinese culture throughout the world.
