| The "performed culture" teaching approach which born in the United States aims to practice and perform the culture.It is specifically used to improve the intercultural communication competence of foreign language learners.According to the teaching approach,second language learning should be a cultural behavior in the cultural background of the target language.Learning a foreign language requires experiencing and frequently rehearsing this cultural behavior.When leaving the classroom to engage in social activities,learners can form conditioned responses,conducting appropriate and normative crosscultural communication.This teaching approach has a scientific grading system and has different teaching modes for students at different language levels.It absorbs the advantages of listening and speaking approach,communicative approach and situational deduction approach.Also,it balances the importance of language knowledge and cultural background in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.From the perspective of culture,it enhances the fun of the class,helps students consolidate and skillfully use the knowledge of Chinese,which constructing a long-term memory of the cultural background of the target language.It can effectively improve students’ language level and achieve the purpose of improving their ability of expression,communication and cross-cultural communication by performing culture.Firstly,this thesis introduces the teaching problems existing in the Confucius Institute in Cluj,Romania and the current researching situation of "performed culture" teaching approach in the field of education both domestic and overseas.Through the elaboration of the teaching approach theory,and the comparison between "performed culture" teaching approach and the traditional cognitive and empirical teaching approach,demonstrating the feasibility of applying the "performed culture" teaching approach to the elementary Chinese class.Through a comprehensive investigation of the teaching status of Confucius institute,getting the causes of teaching problems,which leading the teaching objectives are determined,and the curriculum design is carried out according to the basic theory of "performance culture" teaching approach.This thesis focuses on the practical process and teaching effect of “performing”,presenting the scripts in different contexts and their design ideas based on the content of HSK standard course 1.Also,a number of Student oriented scripts.The performing process was recorded in detail.In the later stage,through the summary and comments of students’ performance cases,comparison and the effect and function of the cultural teaching method of "practice and performance" in the elementary TCSL classroom,as well as analysis of students’ Chinese proficiency before and after,and students’ subjective feedback,evaluating and analyzing the effect and function of "performed culture" teaching approach in the elementary TCSL class.At the end of the thesis,putting forward some suggestions and strategies from the view of teacher’s professional quality,ideas and essentials of script design,the proportion of language and culture and Method of test of teaching achievement,which all of these are based on the results of the author’s practice.It provides some enlightenment for promoting the wide application and development of "performed culture" teaching approach in overseas Confucius institutes. |
