In recent years, the Reception aesthetic theory has set off a cultural trend in literary criticism, and at the same time there have been many research topics in China. In the field of translation, most researches transferred from translator-centered to reader-centered.Among them,Animal Farm as a political allegory fable novel, which mainly describes a group of animals on the farm that cannot withstand the squeeze of human farmers. It successfully carried out a "revolution",overturned the farmer’s rule, and established an equal animal society. However,in the end, animal leaders usurped the fruits of the revolution and became a more authoritarian and totalitarian ruler than humans.Among the dozens of translations published in the mainland,Fu Weici’s version—the first translation in new era,and Kui Jingqiu’s version— are selected in this study. This study compares the two Chinese versions of Animal Farm with the guiding principles of reception aesthetic theory. This study is a comparatively in-depth and comprehensive comparative study from the perspective of reception aesthetics theory from the three main ideas: "Horizon of Expectation","Literary Evolution" and "Reader’s responds".Compared from the lexical, syntactic and discourse dimensions, and provide the author’s translation practice version in this study. The study found that although the reception aesthetic theory has a very important influence in the field of literary research, because the focus of reader’s response, based on the historical nature of the literature and the reader’s literary history background, the translator is both the author of the translation re-creation process and the readers of literary works, and also based on reader’s response we can get that different translators’ differences in their literary history background and translator’s subjectivity. In this way,the difference of reader’s response lead to the two Chinese translations differing greatly in style and so on.In response to this discovery, this study provides several suggestions for reception theory in literary translation: literary works should be contemporary in order to resonate with readers, and translators should pay attention to the interaction of readers’ responses in the translated works, while ensuring that the translator’s Literature cultivation.
