On Miao Chongqun’s Literary Creation

Miao Chongqun(1907-1945)is a writer famous for his unique prose creation in the 1930s.He was also the editor of Literature Monthly,Cosmic Wind and other newspapers.He is.talented and rich in writings.He not only made outstanding achievements in prose,but also worked hard in the field of fiction and translation,and achieved some results.Because of his growing background,Miao Chongqun has a lonely and sentimental personality,coupled with the downfall of life and disease,so he always observes the world and feels life in silence with the "weak" mentality.But at the same time,he is a literary "Gleaner" who loves creation,constantly renews himself and the more adversity he has,the better his writing is.Since the publication of his first work in 1928,Miao Chongqun never stopped writing until the end of his life.His works are simple,precise,full of true feelings and rich in philosophy,which not only left the imprint of his own thoughts and life,but also showed the features of the times and social conditions from the one side.It is a research case worthy of attention in the history of modern literature.Miao Chongqun’s literary creation,especially prose creation,was highly praised by his contemporaries.His works have also been published in many famous literary journals at that time,such as Bei Xin,Yu Si,Heavy Bell,etc.In the 1930s,Miao Chongqun was as famous as He Qifang,Li Guangtian and Feng Zikai.However,due to his early death and his creation deviated from the mainstream of the literary world,he has been ignored by the academic circle for a long time.So far,he has not got the corresponding status of literary history.At present,the research of modern prose has not fully realized the due value of Miao Chongqun’s prose creation.On the basis of previous research results,this paper attempts to make a comprehensive study of the writer’s literary creation on the whole according to all the relevant materials that can be collected at present.The main body of the thesis consists of four chapters:The first chapter explores the personality psychology of Miao Chongqun.Combined with Miao Chongqun’s special family background and growth experience,this paper mainly analyzes the factors that affect the formation of the writer’s personality psychology from the aspects of "family trauma","disease experience","experience of studying abroad in Japan","social change" and "friendly relationship with friends",and explains the specific impact of his personality psychology on his literary creation.The second chapter discusses the theme and spiritual connotation of Miao Chongqun’s literary creation.Miao Chongqun’s various literary works can be roughly divided into three categories:"personal narrative:inner confession","social portrait:sketch of the world",and "experience nature:symphony of universe and life".In addition,this chapter attempts to explore the rich spiritual connotation of the works.The third chapter analyzes the artistic style of Miao Chongqun’s creation.According to the writer’s character and personality,borrowing from the concept of "beauty of passive virtue " proposed by Ye Jiaying,this chapter points out that Miao Chongqun,as a marginal figure of the times,has a "passive virtue" despite his "weak"appearance.This makes his writing style show a kind of graceful beauty of personality.At the same time,Miao Chongqun’s literary creation also has the characteristics of vague stylistic boundary.The tendency that prose is like poetry and novel is like prose makes the works more lyrical.In addition,through the specific text analysis,this chapter will give a detailed description of its language style and emotional tone.The fourth chapter summarizes the status of Miao Chongqun in the history of modern literature.Through the analysis of the literature road of Miao Chongqun and the reason why he was neglected for a long time,this chapter discusses his contribution to the literature of the 1930s and 1940s from the aspects of prose,novel and personality image,as well as his limitations in creation,and strives to make an overall and objective evaluation of his literary creation.I hope that more people will pay attention to this writer with literary history significance.
