The double-object construction has always been one of the hottest topics in syntax. Its syntactic performance is rather complex and differs from each other in languages. To study the syntactic structure of double-object constructions, scholars have also proposed a variety of research methods.Although some research methods have also been applied to Mandarin Chinese studies, they have not achieved a consensus so far.First discovered in Bantu(Baker,1988),the applicative method is the latest. This thesis will employ this theory to study the syntactic structure of double object construction in contemporary Chinese and explain their syntactic features. This thesis first examines all verbs that can form the double object construction in contemporary Chinese and afterward, gives a detailed description of their syntactic features and divides them into two categories, namely, the marked type and the unmarked type. The marked type only allows the direct object to undergo passivation, while the unmarked type only allows the indirect object to be passivized. To explain the above syntactic features and asymmetric passivation from syntactical structures, this thesis adopts the framework of APPL and NOP analysis of passive sentences to explain the syntactic structure of these two types of DOCs.Finally, the thesis finds that the marked type contains raising applicative in its syntactic structure while the unmarked type, high applicative structure. The different performances of their passive sentences are caused by the existence of the NOP in passive sentences.
