An English-Chinese Translation Report On Wild Brews(Chapter 6) Under The Assistance Of Computer-Aided Translation Software MemoQ

In this paper,the author chose memoQ,computer-aided translation software,as the auxiliary translation tool.Now memoQ incorporates a glossary,machine translation,error checking,and more.These functions can not only improve the translation efficiency,but also ensure the translation quality.This translation practice uses the memoQ tool to assist in the translation of bio-applied texts.This translation practice selects the sixth chapter of Wild Brews by Jeff Sparrow on the fermentation of three famous beers.These two chapters mainly describe the wild fermentation process of three famous beers and several famous wineries in Belgium.The selected chapter has a large number of beer terms,terminology,and brewery names.The main difficulties the author needs to deal with in translation are the extraction and translation of professional terms,the operation of computer-aided translation software and the translation of people and places.In terms of these difficulties,the author does as the following: First,in the pre-translation stage,the professional terms related to the source text are sorted and summarized,and memoQ is used to extract and translate the terms.During the translation process,the author pays attention to the control of translation quality and summarizes the translation standards of person and place names.In the post-translation stage,the author combines manual and machine translation to submit the translation for review and modification,thereby greatly improving translation efficiency.
