Peer acceptance as a manifestation of the ability of young children's peers, reflecting their popularity in the peer group and acting as an important indicator of the social development of young children.Peer acceptance is influenced by many factors, previous studies have found that peer acceptance is related to parenting style.Parents are the first teachers of young children, who play a vital role in their growth, the differences in parenting styles can also influence peer acceptance. The attitudes, language, and behaviors exhibited by parents in daily life or parent-child activities will affect young children to a certain extent, thus affecting their interaction with their peers. In addition, current researchers have also found that peer acceptance is related to children's emotional ability, especially in children's emotional ability. The use of different emotional regulation strategies by young children will have an impact on their acceptance in the group. Therefore, this study aims to explore the peer acceptance of different young children and their relationship with parenting style and early childhood emotional regulation strategies. On this basis, the child's emotional regulation strategy is used as a mediator to explore the relationship between parenting style and peer acceptance. This study selected 300 children aged 4-6 years and their parents in Xi'an.The peer nomination method was used to measure the peer acceptance level of the children. The parental parenting style questionnaire revised by Zhao Yiqiang was used to measure the parenting style. The children's emotional adjustment strategy was measured using Children's Emotional Adjustment Strategy Questionnaire revised by Lu Ling. The results of the study:(1)The acceptance of children's peers is mainly based on general-type children, accounting for 57.7%of the total. There was a significant difference in gender between peer acceptance levels and peer acceptance types(p<0.001).(2)Parental rearing styles were mainly emotional warmth and understanding(43.89,27.80),and there were significant gender differences in each dimension(p<0.001);children's emotional regulation strategies were mainly positive emotional adjustment strategies(84.02).(3)Peer acceptance and father's emotional warmth and understanding were significantly positively correlated(p<0.01),and significantly negatively correlated with the remaining dimensions(p<0.05).Peer acceptance and mother's emotional warmth were positively correlated with understanding(p<0.01),and punishment was negatively correlated with severe(p<0.01);parental parenting styles were significantly related to each dimension of emotional regulation strategy(p<0.01);peer acceptance was positively correlated with positive emotion regulation strategy(p<0.01),and negatively correlated with negative emotion regulation strategy(p<0.01).(4)Problem-solving and alternative activities play a partial intermediary role between the father's refusal of denial and peer acceptance;the problem-solving plays a full intermediary role between the father's excessive interference and peer acceptance.Cognitive reconstruction and seeking support play a partial intermediary role between mother's emotional warmth and understanding and peer acceptance;problem-solving and alternative activities play a full intermediary role between maternal punishment and rigor and peer acceptance. The conclusions of the study:(1)The acceptance of the children's peers is mainly in the general type, and the level of peer acceptance of boys is relatively lower than that of girls. In the popular type, the proportion of girls is significantly larger than that of boys;in the rejected type, the proportion of boys is greater than that of girls.(2)Parental rearing style and early childhood emotional adjustment strategies are mainly positive, and girls' positive emotional regulation strategies are higher than boys.(3)The more positive the parents' parenting style, the better their children's emotional adjustment strategies, the higher the level of peer acceptance.(4)Positive emotional regulation strategies play a mediating role between parenting styles and peer acceptance. The following suggestions are proposed:(1)Pay attention to the peer communication of young children and promote the improvement of peer acceptance.(2)Parents adopt a good parenting style to improve the level of peer acceptance.(3)Cultivate good emotional ability and improve the level of peer acceptance.(4)Using the mediating role of emotional regulation strategies to improve peer acceptance.
