A Study About The Mao’s Commentary Edition Of Pipa Ji

The Pipa Ji Record of the Seventh Talented Scholar was dictated by Mao Shengshan and recorded by Mao Zonggang.They cooperated to complete it.It was written in the year before Kangxi Ding(1666).The Mao ’s commentary edition of Pipa Ji is a comprehensive summary of the history of theoretical criticism of Pipa Ji.His criticism of Pipa Ji covers many aspects,such as drama structure,drama method and drama characters.Its academic value provides reference for later generations.Mao Shengshan also established his position in the history of drama theory criticism in Pipa Ji through his works.As a landmark work in the history of theoretical criticism of Pipa Ji,Pipa Ji of the Seventh Talent Book has unique research value.I thoroughly reads the Pipa Records of the Seventh Talented Scholar Book,and fully draws lessons from the research results of predecessors in order to dig deeper into the value and significance of Mao’s batches.Based on the Pipa Ji Record of the Seventh Talented Scholar published by Dada Book Supply Agency in 1923,and referring to a large number of other relevant documents collected and collated by me,this paper discusses the Mao ’s commentary edition.Firstly,I give a brief introduction to the lives of Mao Shengshan and Mao Zonggang,and all studies base on the existing data collected by me.I also investigate the friendship of Mao Shengshan and Li Zhuowu.Threr is an other joint commentary edition of Romance of the Three Kingdoms before the Mao ’s commentary edition of Pipa Ji.I also make a little research on this commentary work.Secondly,I focus on the text research of Pipa Ji Record of the Seventh Talent Book.There are mainly the following aspects: The first content is the analysis of the completion of this book,I focuson Mao Shengshan’s criticism motivation and the background of Mao’s criticism.The study of the critical motivation is helpful todig out the author’s ideas contained in the works,and researching the original book can infer the author’s attitude towards the object of criticism.The second content is the critical content,which can help me sort out where the focus of Mao’s father and son’s criticism of Pipa Ji is.It is precious that Mao Zonggang noticed the use of lyric in Pipa Ji in his criticism.Although the content of lyric does not involve much about lyric,it is also a new point for me to study Mao ’s commentary edition.The thrid content is that I study and analyse the dramatic theory of Mao Shengshan and Mao Zonggang contained in Mao ’s commentary edition,and probe into Mao’s dramatic theory from three aspects: reality,structure and method.Finally,Mao Shengshan and Li Zhuowu’s different individual consciousness will inevitably lead to different criticism styles.I make a brief discussion on their differences in criticism style from appreciation attitude and criticism discourse,in order to find out the style characteristics of Mao’s commentary edition which distinguishes others’ criticism edition.
