The source text of the translation practice is the second chapter of Just Great Teaching by Ross Morrison Mc Gill. The book discusses ten primary issues in the current British educational system, points out a multitude of problems faced by the education sector in the new era,and proposes quite complete and innovative solutions. The second chapter focuses on planning. It’s commonly known that education is a necessary way to impart knowledge and inspire students’ initiatives.Meanwhile, the teaching concepts of educators themselves should be constantly updated to adapt to the rapid development of the times. The translator hopes that through this translation, the common problems existing in the education circles can be displayed to the readers, and some teaching skills and experience can be provided for reference to the research and development of educational theory in China. In this translation practice, firstly, the translator has read a lot of parallel texts and accumulated relevant teaching knowledge before starting the translation.Secondly,in the process of text translation, different translation methods such as literal translation and free translation are used, and appropriate translation tools are selected to translate terms and classical idioms in the original text,so as to make the translation smooth and natural.Thirdly, the difficulties in translation are analyzed from the perspective of vocabulary, syntax, discourse and culture.Difficult translation skills such as word conversion and word order adjustment are frequently used. Finally, the translation practice is summarized.Through this translation, the translator realizes that every translator has a heavy responsibility on his shoulders.A qualified translator should not only be knowledgeable and keep time with the times, but also have a strong sense of responsibility for the translation, the original and the readers.
