The Study Of Dragon And Snake With Flood Myth In Ancient China

This paper is a study of dragon snake and flood myth.As a large number of images in flood mythology,"dragon and snake" still needs further analysis in the field of flood mythology research.Most of the predecessors interpreted it with totem,but the defects of totem theory are increasingly exposed,and many places can not be included.This requires us to re-examine the totem theory and change our thinking,so as to explore the dragon and snake in a broader context.Based on the documents handed down from the Pre-Qin and Han Dynasties,this paper analyzes the relationship between dragon and snake,the collection and analysis of dragon and snake materials,the relationship between dragon and snake and water,and the reexamination of dragon and snake totem theory.The writing strives to focus on the problem consciousness.In the part of the relationship between dragon and snake,the author thinks that as a virtual deity,tonglong is the inheriting relationship evolved from the snake,and with this as the center,it radiates the derived images related to the dragon and snake,which are collectively called "dragon and snake system";in the part of the collection and analysis of dragon and snake materials,through the mutual confirmation of the two kinds of evidences on paper and underground,the author tries to make an overall basis for the dragon and snake in the pre Qin and Han Dynasties This paper discusses the relationship between dragon and snake and water from"flood" and "natural water" respectively,and tries to provide a possible explanation for Kuafu's real body problem and Baosi's elimination of Zhou's mystery.In my opinion,the so-called "dragon and snake totem theory" does exist,but it is not the root of the dragon and snake image.The reason why the dragon and snake became an important image in literature is closely related to the "water" as the original prototype of nature worship.To be sure,the so-called dragon and snake worship is a concrete form of expression from the development of water worship to the later stage,and it is a mature form of natural worship of primitive ancestors.As a foreign product,"totem theory" has its own historical necessity and rationality for the mainstream position formed in the past hundred years.However,it is inevitable that the phenomenon of"acclimatization" will occur if Western totemism is applied to study Chinese mythology.This requires us to take in both advantages and make up for our own shortcomings,so as to achieve the balance between Chinese and western academic.
