| Academic self-concept refers to the individuals cognition,experience and evaluation of his own academic aspects.Its development level is closely related to academic performance,and the academic performance will directly affect the future development of young people.For vocational students in adolescence,they have more psychological confusion and psychological conflicts,insufficient motivation to learn,and poor grades.It is of great practical significance to improve the status quo of vocational students.Psychological capital is a positive mental state,which not only helps the development of students’ mental health,but also helps students in their studies.However,at present there is a lack of research on the relationship between psychological capital and academic self-concept of secondary vocational students.Therefore,it is necessary to further explore the relationship between psychological capital and academic self-concept,so as to promote the healthy growth of vocational students.This study uses the Positive Psychological Capital Questionnaire and the Academic Self-Concept Questionnaire to explore the current status and relationship between psychological capital and academic self-concept of 592 secondary vocational students in an institution in Anhui Province.Based on this,48 secondary vocational students were selected as research objects to explore the effect of psychological capital group counseling on academic self-concept.The conclusions of the study are as follows:(1)The academic self-concept of secondary vocational students is at the upper-middle level.The academic self-concept score of class cadres is significantly higher than that of non-class cadres;the academic self-concept of vocational students has a gradual upward trend with the grade,and the score of the third grade is significantly higher than the first grade;The better the grade,the higher the academic self-concept score.There are no significant differences in gender,place of birth,and whether they are the only child.(2)The overall and all dimensions of psychological capital of secondary vocational students are at the upper-middle level.Boys scores on confidence,resilience,hope and the total psychological capital are significantly higher than girls;class cadres scores on confidence,hope,optimism and the total psychological capital are significantly higher than those who are not class cadres;there is a significant marginal difference in the confidence of secondary vocational students in the single child family or not(p = 0.056),and scores of non-only children are lower than those of the only child;the better the students’ scores,the higher the resilience,hope,optimism and overall psychological capital high.There is no significant difference in the place of birth and grade.(3)There is a significant correlation between the total score and dimensions of psychological capital of secondary vocational students and academic self-concept.Further regression analysis found that all dimensions of psychological capital can positively predict the academic self-concept of secondary vocational students.(4)A group counseling program designed according to the PCI model can significantly promote the development of psychological capital of secondary vocational students,and further significantly improve the academic self-concept of secondary vocational students,with a good intervention effect.According to the conclusions of this study,relevant education suggestions are proposed: school should pay attention to the mental health education of vocational students,introduce high-level professional teachers,and strengthen good cooperation with families and society;it should be said that the teaching methods should be constantly updated,more psychological capital counseling courses should be developed,and give students more love and encouragement;for students themselves,learn to discover their own advantages,cultivate a positive and optimistic character,set a reasonable goal,and actively Participate in and out of school activities.Improve the psychological capital of students from the above aspects,thereby improving the students’ academic self-concept level and promoting the development and growth of the vocational students. |
