This is a report on English-Chinese translation of the novel Eating People Is Wrong by English writer Malcolm Bradbury. The story is set on the campus of a university and tells the moral crisis experienced by Professor Treece who advocates liberalism. The excerpt describes major characters’ activities and mentality of the two parties. There are four parts in this practice report, including translation task description, translation process description, translation case analysis, and conclusion. The third part is the core content of this translation practice report.Under the guidance of Skopos theory, the translator explores the translation techniques of literary texts and tries to solve the problems encountered in translation through the principle of “Skopos”,“Fidelity” and “Coherence”.The case analysis is divided into three aspects: for words, using the technique of conversion and four-character structure;for long sentence, using the technique of splitting and restructuring;for parenthesis, using fronting and amplification.
