Research On The Urban Narrative In Ge Liang’s Novels

With the rise of modern cities and the development of urbanization,Chinese writers pay more and more attention to cities,and urban narrative has become a hot topic in literary creation.As a world-renowned young writer,Ge Liang describes the unique temperament of Chinese cities with an "old soul" by integrating his personal experience with historical comprehension.Through novel writing,he conveys the deep thinking from a generation of people about the urban culture.This thesis sorts out the development of urban narrative in modern and contemporary Chinese literature so far by comparative analysis,providing an objective and conclusive literary clue for Ge Liang ’s urban narrative research.Based on the demonstration of urban narrative evolution,we try to figure out the succession relationship and pioneering significance of Ge Liang’s literature in this thesis.This thesis is intended to illustrate the complex and delicate urban narrative context in Ge Liang’s novels through a detailed interpretation of the texts of Ge Liang’s novels.We believe that Ge Liang’s "two cities" writing identity has opened up a unique creative perspective for his literature,enabling him to display a multi-faceted real picture of the city from inside and outside.At the same time,Ge Liang combined the positions of academic and folk schools,portraying the daily life of citizens with a calm and rational attitude and compassion,and then revealed the essential core of city.During his diverse creative practice,Ge Liang has shown his love for "new classicalism" and gradually formed the urban narrative art with "Ge Liang characteristics".We believe that Ge Liang’s urban narrative is not only a topic worthy of study in contemporary literature,but also an important target for overseas Chinese literature in recent years.Meanwhile,it is of great value in the value orientation and aesthetic effort when contemporary writers are thinking about urbanization.Ge Liang has connected the cultural and aesthetic expressions of Chinese and overseas cities with the essence of Chinese literature by the narrative of "two cities".Therefore,his literature creation can be regarded as a reflection of some kind of contemporary collective writing,as well as an important achievement of Chinese literature to reveal the gains and losses of his urban narrative.
