Oral English is an important embodiment of the comprehensive ability of English,but oral English teaching is a bottleneck in current classroom English teaching.The English Curriculum Standards for Senior High School(2017)puts forward clear requirements for high school students' oral English ability,and emphasizes the cultivation of students' awareness of using chunks in the context.Memetics,based on imitation and reproduction,provides scientific and effective guidance for the application of lexical approach in senior high school oral English teaching,and provides a practical basis for improving the oral English level of senior high school students.On the basis of memetics,and combined with relevant research results of oral English teaching and lexical approach,this study trys to probe into the following two research questions:1.What is the impact of memetics-based lexical approach on senior high school students' oral English fluency?2.What is the impact of memetics-based lexical approach on senior high school students' oral English accuracy?This study used a combination of both qualitative and quantitative research methods.The subject were 60 senior high school students from two intact classes.The experimental class implemented lexical approach,and the traditional oral teaching was conducted in control class.The whole experiment lasted for 16 weeks.The research instruments involved oral test,oral English rating criteria and questionnaires.All the data were analyzed by SPSS23.0The findings of the study are as follows: 1.Compared with regular oral English teaching modes,memetics-based lexical approach can improve students' oral English fluency.Through reasonable chunks of language memes,the speaking rate and articulation rate of students are accelerated,pause length is reduced,and the time-to-time occurrence of spoken expression and the average language flow are improved.2.Compared with regular oral English teaching modes,memetics-based lexical approach can improve the accuracy of oral English of senior high school students,esp.the accuracy of vocabulary and grammar.What's more,the research also founds that compared with regular oral English teaching modes,memetics-based lexical approach can effectively increase students' interests in oral English learning,and significantly enhance students' awareness of using chunks.The research shows that the application of memetics-based lexical approach has important reference value and practical significance to the implementation of senior high school oral English teaching.
