A Report On The Translation Of Excerpts From Andy Murray:Tennis Ace

The translation material of the translation report is selected from the first eight chapters of the biography Andy Murray:Tennis Ace.The author,John Murray,first narrates the process of Andy Murray,a tennis player who is highly expected by the British people,winning the men’s singles at the 2012 US Open.Then it traces back to Andy Murray’s childhood,and brings the readers closer to the growing journey of the British tennis ace.In the process of translation,the author finds that a large number of technical terms and long sentences increase the difficulty of this translation activity.Therefore,when encountering various difficulties,the author chooses the corresponding translation methods to make the translation more adaptive to the cognition and habits of Chinese readers under the guidance of Jef Verschueren’s Adaptation Theory,and finally completes the translation task.This translation report consists of five chapters.The first chapter is the task description of this translation activity,introducing the source and content of the translation material.The second chapter describes the translation process,which is divided into pre-translation preparation stage,translation stage and post-translation review stage.The third chapter is a brief introduction and analysis of the Adaptation Theory.And in Chapter Four,the author chooses different translation methods such as linear translation and reverse translation,applies them to different cases from the aspects of vocabulary and sentence,and then makes case analysis.Finally,in Chapter Five,the author summarizes the experience process and deficiencies of the translation practice.In the process of the translation practice,the author has a deeper understanding of the Adaptation Theory and accomplishes the translation practice of the biography under the guidance of the theory and benefits a lot from it.The author hopes to provide some help for the translation of such genre of literatures in the future.
