A Study On Shoko Monthly In Puppet Manchukuo Period(1938—1943)

After the September 18^th Incident in 1931,the Japanese invaders began to engage in the cultural propaganda undertakings in the northeast region,attempting to deceive people from northeast region and reducing people's hatred against Japan,so that they could conduct the military aggression.They assumed that the propagated colonialist ideology would control people's mind.In addition to the military occupation,Japan and the puppet Manchurian regime also exercised strong control over cultural propaganda by issuing books and newspapers with colonial influence.Shoko Monthly was issued under these circumstances.Disguised as a financial management journal,it helped the puppet Manchurian government and Japanese invaders spread colonialist ideas.In this paper,the study of Shoko Monthly is carried out from the following aspects:firstly,this paper introduces the creation time and founders of the journal and analyzes the features of journal and its economic and business management content.Then,this paper focuses on analyzing the main content of this journal and revealing its propaganda intention in response to the relevant economic policies of the Japanese invaders and the puppet Manchurian government from the aspects of industry,commerce,and finance.According to the propaganda content in the journal,the paper analyzes the economic and cultural propaganda methods used by the Japanese invaders in their aggression against the northeast region and the role played by the Shoko Monthly.The last part of the paper analyzes the characteristics of Shoko Monthly and reveals its true intention.Under the puppet Manchurian regime,the publication of Shoko Monthly had its particularity.As an unofficial journal founded and published by the Chinese people,it was closely related to the puppet Manchurian government.Shoko Monthly used the economic aggression policy of the puppet Manchurian government to propagate colonial culture,which was very misleading and deceptive to the people.By creating the so-called"Japan-Manchuria-friendship"and defending the Japanese aggression,Shoko Monthly truly became an advocator of the Japanese colonial culture and a defender of Japanese aggression.Among many Chinese periodicals published during the puppet Manchukuo period,the Shoko Monthly was a special one.Under the slogan of"revitalizing industry and commerce",it propagated the colonial and aggressive policies of the Japanese and puppet Manchurian economy by explaining economic issues and spreading industrial and commercial knowledge,which deceived the people.Shoko Monthly was an incontestable evidence of the Japanese economic plunder and cultural aggression against China in that period.
