A Study Of Hollywood Cyberpunk Films

Looking back on the whole history of science fiction films,through the 30 years since the birth of cyberpunk film,there has been no new subtype which could rival cyberpunk.Cyberpunk has also gradually become a popular culture which prevails in literature,film and television,architecture design,video games and many other fields.Therefore,this paper takes Hollywood cyberpunk films as the research object and carries on a thorough inquiry to the generative context,the course of development,and the type traits of them based on the theoretical framework of typology.It will sum up the similarities,differences and stylized modes of Hollywood cyberpunk films in different historical periods,extract the theoretical value and practical significance embodied in their typological process,and provide advanced experience and reference model for the upcoming typological way of domestic science fiction films.The study will be conducted in the following five parts:The introduction will explain the theoretical and practical significance of this topic,as well as define and differentiate the related concepts involved in this paper.By clarifying the research results of domestic and foreign scholars in Hollywood cyberpunk films and in film typology,we can fully understand the current situation and existingproblems of these researches.The first chapter will discuss the generative context of Hollywood cyberpunk films.From the perspective of contemporary context and science fiction literature,it will study the theoretical basis and social environment of cyberpunk film which were born with the third technological revolution,postmodernism,economic globalization,and cyberpunk movement.Chapter Two will explore the course of development of Hollywood cyberpunk films.Based on the historical background and the characteristics of films,it will study the development status and the stylized modes of cyberpunk film in each period,and summarize the whole development stages and evolution track of cyberpunk film.Chapter Three will analyze the typological characteristics of Hollywood cyberpunk films.From the perspective of theme connotations and aesthetic characteristics,it will study the unique artistic style,diverse world view settings and profound philosophical thinking of cyberpunk film,and analyze the fundamental difference between other film subtypes and cyberpunk.The conclusion will be based on the current situation of Hollywood cyberpunk films in the aspects of production mode,value orientation,international influence and so on,and reflect on the problems and shortcomings of domestic science fiction films.By analyzing thedevelopment course,as well as experience and lessons of Hollywood cyberpunk films,it will put forward some effective suggestions for the future development of domestic science fiction films.
