The Effect Of Feedback On Self-Deception

Individual's processing of self-information does not follow the principle of objective reality.In fact,Individual's often show different degree of deviation effect when they process objects.Individuals cheat themselves by choosing and evaluating information,and their success rate will be improved when they finish some tasks later.This previously generated sense of victory will affect subsequent tasks,resulting in a "winner effect".The fuzzy feedback theory of self-deception supports this phenomenon,and emotion filter plays an important role in the generation of self-deception.This study first confirmed the "winner effect" of selfdeception.Secondly,fuzzy theory and emotion filter of self-deception are explored by using fuzzy and precise feedback properties.Finally,we explore the internal neural mechanism of fuzzy feedback and precise feedback to produce different levels of self-deception.Three experiments were designed to investigate the effect of feedback on self—deception from behavioral and ERPs perspectives.In Experiment 1,the prospective paradigm was used to explore the influence of fuzzy feedback on self-deception.The results showed that there was a significant difference between the experimental group with answer prompt and the control group without answer prompt in the score of the difference between actual measurement and prediction,that is,the subjects in the experimental group had more self-deception;and compared with the control group,the subjects in the experimental group improved the score of test 2 under the condition of positive fuzzy feedback Prediction score(the degree of selfdeception increases),that is to say,the production of self—deception is mainly affected by positive fuzzy feedback.Experiment 2 still uses the prospective paradigm to explore the effect of precise feedback on self-deception.The results first verify the results of Experiment 1.Under the effect of the answer prompt,the subjects in the experimental group have more self-deception;however,compared with the control group,the subjects in the experimental group have no more predictive scores under the condition of precise feedback,that is to say,the experiment positively confirms the effect of precise feedback on self—deception The emergence of deception has no promoting effect,but confirms the promoting effect of fuzzy feedback on self—deception from the side.In Experiment 3,ERPs technology was used to explore the internal mechanism of fuzzy and precise feedback on self—deception.The results showed that,firstly,under the condition of fuzzy feedback,the self —deception of subjects was more than that of precise feedback;secondly,it was found that the generation of self-deception needed positive component,and under the condition of positive fuzzy feedback,self-deception was more induced It was found that frontal area was the main area of self—deception.The results also found that not only the positive fuzzy or negative fuzzy conditions,but also the self-deception produced by the subjects were more than the positive specific or negative specific feedback.It is found that self-deception needs positive component;self-deception under the influence of positive fuzzy feedback induces larger P2 and P300 components.At last,we found that the activation degree of self-deception in frontal and middle frontal areas increased significantly under fuzzy feedback,and the activation degree of right hemisphere was higher than that of left and central areas.In a word,the research of this paper not only validates the previous research viewpoint,but also fills in some blank in the field of selfdeception research.The main conclusions are as follows: firstly,in three experiments,this paper verifies that fuzzy feedback is the supporting theory of self-deception from different aspects;secondly,the formation of self-deception promotes the completion of the next task and gives birth to the "winner effect" after self-deception;secondly,in three experiments,the provision of fuzzy and accurate feedback information includes positive and negative The results show that there are more self-deception under the positive feedback information.This study proves that emotion filter can promote the generation of self-deception.Finally,it is found that frontal area is the main area of self-deception,and the generation of self-deception needs to activate P2 and P300 components,which can find the inner influence for different effects of fuzzy feedback and precise feedback The origin of neural mechanism.The conclusion of this paper will lay a good foundation for the future study of self-deception.It will not only enrich the relevant theories of self-deception and explore its internal neural mechanism,but also deeply understand the mystery behind self-deception.
