| English,as an international communicative language,is playing a more and more important role with the development of society and the communications among countries.Listening,speaking,reading and writing are the four basic skills in the process of English learning.Teachers seldom attach importance to writing in the process of English teaching in junior high school.Students often make mistakes in spelling,impropriety of words as well as Chinglish.It also means that teachers are facing serious problems to help students make progress in their English writing.While searching for information about English teaching,the writer reads the sentence said by Lewis,“Language consists of grammaticalized lexis,not lexicalized grammar.” A new kind of teaching Approach-the lexical Approach is emerged.It points out that lexical chunks are the basic units in English teaching.Lexical chunks are the immobilized or semi-immobilized structures which include the functions of grammar and vocabulary.It’s much easier to memorize lexical chunks in the process of language input.What’s more,lexical chunks can be retrieved as a whole in the process of language output,so the difficulty of English application can be reduced.On the one hand,lexical chunks can reduce the memory stress of students;on the other hand,while writing,the use of lexical chunks can shorten the time of extracting language information.And the efficiency of processing language information can be improved.Because of this nature,the negative transfer of native language can be reduced in students’ writing.Students can make progress in accuracy,fluency and idiomaticity in their writing.The aim of the paper is to adopt the lexical Approach in teaching to combine lexical chunks and English writing in junior high school.With the help of lexical chunks theory,the writer not only guides the students to identify,internalize and accumulate lexical chunks but also helps the students to make combination of writing and lexical chunks they learn.The experiment of the writer is supposed to solve the following twoproblems:1.Is lexical Approach helpful to improve the writing of students in junior high school?2.Have the attitudes of students towards English writing changed after the application of lexical Approach?The paper is on the basis of experimental data analysis.Lexical Approach can help improve the writing ability of students in junior high school.After adopting the Lexical Approach,students can get better grades in their writing.In addition,the accuracy,fluency and idiomaticity can be improved as well.Furthermore,the attitudes of students towards English writing have changed greatly,because it arouses the enthusiasm and initiative of students in their English learning.Therefore,Lexical Approach is an effective teaching approach in English teaching. |
