A Study On The Interactive Function And Epistemic Stance Of "Dui Ba" In Chinese Conversation

With the rise of interactive linguistics,people pay more and more attention to the relationship between language form and meaning.Starting from the perspective of interactive linguistics,this paper takes clause "Dui ba" as the main research object,and analyzes it from the aspects of conversation sequence,position and rhythm.It is found that "Dui ba" in different positions has different interpersonal interaction functions.In addition,the feeling "Dui ba" gives us is highly subjective,so we combined the theories of cognitive orientation and the stance triangle to explore its epistemic status and epistemic stance.Finally,in view of the fact that "Dui ba" and "Shi ba" seem to have the same usage in people’s daily conversation,we made a series of comparisons between the two and got the difference between the two.The research significance of this paper is mainly reflected in the systematic research on topics such as the position,rhythm,interpersonal interaction function,epistemic status and epistemic stance of "Dui ba" in the conversation sequence and the interactive function of "Dui ba" under the paradigm of interactive linguistics.In addition,this article also starts with the conversation sequence,combining the cognitive orientation and the stance triangle theory,and focuses on the epistemic status and epistemic stance of "Dui ba" in the conversation sequence,pays attention to the research direction and theoretical update,and pushes the research of "Dui ba" in depth.The innovation of the article is reflected in the research perspective,theoretical framework and corpus selection.Based on the interactive perspective of real communication,the paper interprets the conversational function of "Dui ba" by using interactive theories such as stance expression and epistemic positioning,on the basis of conversational analysis of spoken corpus,supplemented by prosody analysis of praat software.The main conclusions of this paper are as follows: First,"Dui ba" is located at the end of the sentence and has the function of asking for confirmation or approval.Being located in a sentence functions as a discourse marker.There is an additional confirmation function at the beginning of the sentence.Second,the epistemic status of "Dui ba" in different positions is different from the expression of the epistemic stance: the "Dui ba" added at the end of the turn appears in the speaker’s epistemic status lower than that of the listener;The "Dui ba" at the head of the turn appears in the same epistemic status of the conversation participants."Dui ba" in turn is used to indicate that the speaker’s epistemic status is higher than that of the listener.Third,the functions of "Shi ba" and "Dui ba" are similar,but there are still subtle differences in the degree of confirmation,tone,and the target.
