C-E Translation Of Neologisms In Chinese News From The Perspective Of Interpretive Theory

With the development of globalization,China is experiencing unprecedented changes in politics,economy,society and other aspects.As a mirror reflecting social changes,a large number of neologisms in Chinese news appear constantly.In order to promote effective crosscultural communication,it becomes very urgent and necessary to study C-E translation of neologisms in Chinese news.Neologism in Chinese news plays an increasingly important role in cross-cultural communication.In order to explore how to help the target language readers understand the neologisms in original texts as well as the domestic news readers by choosing different translation methods from the translator’s point of view,with the guidance of Interpretive Theory,the present study takes the neologisms in Chinese news collected from 14 news media at home and abroad as research data and explores how the interpretive process and principles are embodied in the English translation of neologisms in Chinese news.Meanwhile,the corresponding interpretive translation strategies are summarized.Through detailed text analysis,the author finds that translators transmit the sense of the original texts to readers in an interpretive process with comprehension,deverbalization and re-expression.First,translators combine their cognitive complement with the understanding of the linguistic component and the metaphorical content.Then translators can achieve deverbalization from three steps: deletion,generalization and construction.Finally,after reexpressing the sense of original texts,translators should verify that the contents are identical,the forms are equivalent.Besides,translators can ensure as much as possible readers achieve the same cognitive equivalence and emotional equivalence as the original author to get sense equivalence and the translation should be faithful to the message sender,the target language and the message receiver.Meanwhile,based on the analysis of interpretive process and principles of the neologisms in Chinese news,the proper translation strategies,such as literal translation with contextual background,corresponding expression,free translation with the interpretation of original sense and integrated translation help to achieve sense transmission effectively.At the same time,this study has certain reference to translators in dealing with the English translation of Chinese neologisms in news texts.
