The original text of this translation report is selected from last four chapters of Tara Westover’s autobiographical novel Educated: A memoir, which tells the story of the author who was born in a Mormon family and did not have the opportunity to go to school at an early age,but finally changed her life through education.Hans Vermeer’s skopos theory is chosen as the theoretical framework of this translation practice. The following translation difficulties are summarized in the process of translation: pronouns,Mormon culture-loaded words, asymmetric word order, different structural forms between English and Chinese languages, sentence tenses and context. In view of these translation difficulties, under the guidance of translation theory, the author adopted translation skills such as substitution, annotation, word order adjustment and addition, etc.,with specific examples to achieve the ideal translation effect. The report has five chapters altogether.Chapter one includes the overview of the source text, significance, background and structure of the report.Chapter two describes the translation process.Chapter three introduces text characteristic and the translation theory in detail.Chapter four is the focus of this report, through the case study to explore how to analyze and solve the key points in the process of translation under the guidance of the three principles of skopos theory.Chapter five is the summary of the translation report.
