Yuefu poetry is a literary treasure in the history of ancient Chinese poetry.Kong Que Dong Nan Fei is the first narrative poem in the history of Chinese literature.Kong Que Dong Nan Fei is a love tragedy that has been circulating for thousands of years and has unparalleled social significance.At the same time,in terms of artistic characteristics,the whole poem has a fine structure,proper expression,distinctive characters and different personalities.It is the peak work in the development history of Yuefu poetry.The translation and research of Kong Que Dong Nan Fei has always been a research hotspot at home and abroad.The sociology of translation studies is a branch of translation studies that explores the phenomenon of translation from the perspective of sociology.As a new interdisciplinary discipline,it also studies translation from the perspective of sociology.Translation itself is a social activity and any translation event will be regulated or restricted by certain social conditions.It can be said that translated works reflect the social characteristics of social systems,social norms and ideology.And sociology itself is enough to provide guidance and reference for translation studies.Different social cultures will have different research and analysis on translation.Therefore,this thesis will apply the Theory of Social Practice proposed by French sociologist Bourdieu to explore the research and analysis of translation practice.The author takes English versions of Kong Que Dong Nan Fei by Arthur Waley,Li Zhengshuan,Yang Xianyi and his wife Gladys B.Tayler.They represent the target language group,the source language group and the mixed mode group.By analyzing the differences among translators' habitus,fields and capitals in different versions at home and abroad,we can provide provide a new perspective for translators in the future and provide new ideas for the further study of English translation of Chinese classics.First of all,this thesis introduces the literary translation value and literature review of the text Kong Que Dong Nan Fei and explains the reasons for choosingthese three English versions and the purpose and necessity of this study.Then,it expounds several important concepts in the socio-translation study used in this thesis which are the theoretical support of this thesis.After that,the author analyzes the three versions from the field level to explore the specific embodiment of power struggle between different fields at home and abroad on Kong Que Dong Nan Fei.Secondly,from the perspective of the translator's habitus,this thesis analyzes the differences of the translator's life trajectory,translation purpose and translation style of the three versions to explore how personal habitus affect translation practice.Finally,the thesis discusses the influence of the three versions on the capital operation under the influence of the field and habitus,and analyses the differences and the causes among the four kinds of capital at home and abroad.Through the above research,we can draw a conclusion that we should explore the interaction between field,habits,capital and the translation of Chinese Poetry Classics.Taking Kong Que Dong Nan Fei as an example,we should sublimate the theme of this thesis to the study of Chinese Poetry Classics Translation,further explore the translation strategies of Chinese Classics Translation and bring certain reference value to the contemporary Chinese classics translation.
