Research On The Relationship Between Family Intimacy And Social Anxiety Of Primary School Students

Social anxiety refers to the state that an individual is afraid of being examined and evaluated by others when facing one or more social situations,and assumes that these evaluations are negative,resulting in excessive anxiety.In recent years,researchers have expanded the research scope of social anxiety to primary school students.Primary school students will also feel nervous and at a loss in interpersonal relationships,which will also produce social anxiety.Previous studies have shown that there is a correlation between family intimacy and social anxiety.In this study,225 primary school students of Grade 3-6 in a primary school in Shijiazhuang city were investigated by using the social anxiety scale for children,the family intimacy and adaptability scale,the self-esteem scale and the social self perception scale as research tools(1)Primary school students’ family intimacy,social anxiety,self-esteem and social self-awareness are all in the upper middle level.(2)Family intimacy,self-esteem and social self-awareness of primary school students were negatively correlated with the total score of social anxiety,social avoidance,distress and Fear Negation.Regression analysis showed that family intimacy,self-esteem and social self-awareness had significant negative predictive effect on social anxiety.(3)There was a significant positive correlation between family intimacy and self-esteem,social self-awareness.Regression analysis showed that family intimacy had a significant positive predictive effect on self-esteem,social self-awareness.(4)There is a significant positive correlation between self-esteem and social self-awareness in primary school students.Regression analysis shows that self-esteem has a significant positive predictive effect on social self-awareness.(5)The self-esteem of primary school students plays a completely mediating role between family intimacy and social anxiety.47.8% of family intimacy explains social anxiety through self-esteem.(6)The social self-awareness of primary school students plays a completely mediating role between family intimacy and social anxiety.58.9% of family intimacy explains social anxiety through social self-awareness.(7)The self-esteem and social self-awareness of primary school students play a chain mediating role in family intimacy and social anxiety.Through the above results,we can conclude that the social anxiety level of primary school students has an inseparable relationship with their family intimacy,self-esteem and social self perception.
