As a comprehensive art of time and space, the visual art represented by documentary is more obvious in the timeliness of narrative,so in the early research on the space narrative of The Forbidden City documentary, many researchers always pay attention to the temporal factors rather than space. But the recording image takes the visible picture and sound as the basic "language" of narrative, which is objectively manifested as the continuous movement of vision and hearing space and the arrangement and combination of space paragraphs. Therefore,in this sense, the essence of documentary narrative is a kind of spatial narrative. In view of the special space and strong cultural connotation of the Forbidden City, the documentary film on the theme of the Forbidden City has gradually formed an increasingly conscious and on-the-spot spatial narrative survey of the physical realm of the Forbidden City.In this survey,it is the continuous transformation and change of the Palace Museum documentary in the spatial presentation. At the same time, some scholars put forward the idea of "film Beijing" based on urban research and space theory, explaining the mutual production and interdependence between film and city, the Palace Museum and the Palace Museum documentary is the same.As a special symbol production and visual culture consumption, the palace museum documentary relies on the material space of the Palace Museum to develop diversified narrative style, then created the different narrative style, the esthetic experience. Here, the Palace Museum and the Palace Museum documentary mutual production, will eventually derive a more in line with the current audience and the market dual needs of the development model and prospects. The main body of the thesis is divided into three parts. The first part is to clarify the conceptual definition of narrative space and narrative space in the narrative research of documentaries, and to clarify the differences and internal connections. The main works of famous Chinese and foreign historical buildings are classified and sorted out, leading to the research object of this article-the ForbiddenCity documentary; Finally, the development history of the Forbidden City documentary is reviewed, and the continuous evolution of the Forbidden City documentary works in the context of media integration is analyzed. The second part is to sort out the relationship between time and space in the Forbidden City-themed documentary;from the perspective of picture space, analyze how the Forbidden City-themed documentary is set up by "documentary narrative in reproducible space" and "dramatic narrative in reproducible space".Promote the content plot forward;finally, from the perspective of image space, explore how to gradually build a social space through the attention to personal consciousness, and a national spiritual space that evokes emotional resonance, and then convey its inner emotions. Finally, from the perspective of the changes in the space presented in the Forbidden City documentary, the paper analyzes that the Forbidden City documentary continuously enriches and reconstructs the reproduction space through digital special effects, scene reproduction and other means under the condition of digital technology.Produced a certain dissolution effect;at the same time, using the media geography theory to analyze the Forbidden City through documentary image expressions such as cultural relics and personal interviews,to objectively record the ancient material space of the Forbidden City and the daily life of ordinary people living and working in it Activities, and use story-based narrative mode and performance-based scene reproduction to integrate tradition and modernity, more diversified and open expansion of cultural space reproduction form;from the perspective of speculation, explore the Forbidden City as a special cultural symbol The phenomenon of visual consumption.Any form of media product is directly affected by geographical space. The formation of media cultural forms is inseparable from geography. It will also change with geography. The scale of the media and the distance between the media, etc.,affect the survival and development of the media. Therefore, the changes in the spatial narrative of the Forbidden City documentary from form to content are inevitably affected by various factors fromarchitectural geospatial and external social space. This research hopes to provide some reference for the future development and exploration of Forbidden City-themed documentaries, and to make a rich attempt to enrich the theoretical system of documentaries.
