| The upper-class female ethics of ancient Mongolian was formed and developed by the natural environment, the social system and the ethical relationship between people. In the unique plateau region, climate change and geological conditions made led the ancient Mongolian live a nomadic life of collectivism. In daily life, the upper class women of the nomads were able to control more wealth and enjoy a higher status, not only because of the wide range of nomadic labor they are responsible for, another important reason is because of the traces left by the legacy of the matriarchal clan. The ancestors of ancient Mongolian regarded the descendants of the three son,who descended from Alangvua, the upper class female,as Nilun mongols,in other words a the Mongolian tribe whose female ancestor was Alanvua. However, these factors did not enable Mongolian upper-class women to enjoy equal rights as men in marriage and family relations.Men put their interests first, and in order to enhance economic development and expand military power, polygamy was adopted as the form of extramarital marriage.Women, for their part, legally and morally bound and protected to preserve the moral qualities formed by monogamy for them only. The concrete content of the upper class female ethics of ancient Mongolian is embodied by their ethical role in the society. As mothers,in order to consolidate the authority and status of the clan, they focus on the children to follow the daily etiquette while forming the moral character of unity, fighting and distinguishing good from evil.At the same time,as the model of moral education, mothers conform their behaviors to the moral requirements of the society for women, and strive to move forward by model education. In ancient Mongolian society, people measured the virtues of their husbands by the virtues of their wives, and as upper-class women, they represented the moral features of the whole clan and country. In the marriage relationship, the conservative chastity is regarded as the most basic moralconcept of women;the virtue of temperance is used to maintain the relationship between polygamy;to assist husband to achieve outstanding achievements in all aspects. In the historical documents, the upper Mongolian women in ancient times have a record of temporary governance, but this is not because they have equal power with men, which is due to the spirit of collectivism, they made contribution to maintain the authority and status of the family and the interests of the country. Moreover they have a heavy responsibility to passively become the main object of marriage, for the expansion of the clan and the great cause of the country to contribute their own strength. Therefore, the moral cognition, moral behavior, moral emotion and moral consciousness will embodied in the three ethical roles of the upper Mongolian women in ancient times are a relatively complete of their moral qualities. After the theoretical analysis of the moral character held by the upper Mongolian women in ancient times,a conclusion should be made from the perspective of modern Mongolian women.One-sided equality, relative freedom and restricted personality are the main factors that are not conducive to the development of women. To establish modern Mongolian female ethics,we should discard the dregs caused by historical malpractice, and combine with the moral norms of modern society, learn from and transcend the emphasis on moral cultivation and social responsibility. |
