Depression is a common mood disorder and the largest burden of illness among mental disorders worldwide.Although those effective treatments for depression are available, but not all patients with depression will receive treatment, and a significant proportion of patients who receiving treatment will not be able to recover.Depression is characterized by a lack of motivation, reduced energy, and loss of interest in previously enjoyable activities. These symptoms may make it more difficult for depressed patients to engage in or participate in activities, and reduce the extent to which patients experience rewards. The purpose of behavioral activation is to increase individual participation in potentially beneficial behavioral activities. These activities can be varied and include goal-oriented behaviors, such as walking or having dinner with friends.Besides, the function of mental imagery is to enable individuals to"re-experience"past or future events.Studies have confirmed the impact of different forms of positive imagery interventions on behavioral activation in depressed individuals, but these interventions are more text-picture and less operable.Purpose:To explore a more easy-to-operate,effective and low-cost psychological intervention method, this study applies positive imagery intervention(imagery script)to Chinese depressed groups based on previous research, and explores whether positive imagery intervention is effective for the behavioral activation of depressed individuals. At the same time, the effective mechanism of the intervention method of imagery script is verified through the mediation variable.Method:(1)Study 1.A total of 1,447 Chinese subjects aged with their age ranging from 13-56 years were selected to complete the PIT,Beck Depression Scale ?(BDI-?),and Trait Anxiety Scale.(2)Study 2:Online recruitment of 68 Chinese college students with depression were tested. All the subjects met the minimum depression criteria of BDI-?,CESD,and HAMD.Participants were then randomly assigned to the experimental group(n=50)and the delayed group(n=18).All participants were required to complete T1(pre-testing),T2(post-testing),and T3(1 month tracking),T4(two-month tracking)four-point time Rumination Response Scale, intrusive imagery,BADS,BDI-?,PIT.The entire experiment lasted two weeks. The experimental group of participants will receive two-weekly laboratory intervention and out-of-laboratory intervention during the experiment. The delayed group of subjects will not need any intervention during the experiment, but after the end of the entire experiment, the delayed group participants can decide whether to accept the intervention of the imagery script.Result:(1)Study 1,the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of PIT all met the psychometric statistical standards. The internal consistency reliability of the total scale was 0.84,the internal consistency reliability of the positive factor was 0.81,and the internal consistency of the negative factor was 0.83.At the same time, the retest reliability is 0.76,0.76,and 0.71,respectively.Exploratory factor analysis yielded a 2-factor model, and the factor load of each item was greater than 0.4.The results of confirmatory factor analysis showed that the Chinese version of the two factor correlation model of PIT was the best:?~2/df=4.3,GFI=0.90,IFI=0.93,CFI=0.93,NNFI=0.92,NFI=0.91,and RMSEA=0.07.The ROC curve analysis found that the PIT-P score can predict depression and anxiety.(2)Study 2,the main effect of the number of interventions was significant(F(1,44)=7.16,P=0.01,?_p~2=0.14)in the activity score of imagery script intervention, and the effect of the second intervention was significantly better than the first intervention(P=0.01);The main effect of the pre-test and post-test measurement was significant(F(1,44)=36.57,P<0.001,?_p~2=0.45),and the intervention effect of the post-test was significantly better than the pre-test(P<0.001).At the same time, mental imagery plays an intervening role in the behavioral activation of depressed individuals.?(T2)and PITP(T2)play a full mediating effect in the intervention respectively(CI=[0.07,0.78];CI=[0.03,0.67]).?(T2)and reflective pondering(T3)play a fully chain mediating effect in the intervention(CI=[-0.32,-0.02]),and the total path of the model is significant(CI=[-0.80,-0.06]).Path 1(intervention conditions??(T2)?BADS(T3))is not significant(CI=[-0.54,0.05]).Path 2(intervention conditions??(T2)?reflective pondering(T3)?BADS(T3))is significant(CI=[-0.32,-0.02]).Path 3(intervention conditions?reflective pondering(T3)?BADS(T3))is not significant(CI=[-0.40,0.13]).Conclusion:(1)The Chinese version of PIT consists of two dimensions of positive and negative factors. The reliability of the scale is good, and the structure is stable, which is suitable for the study of vividness of Chinese imagery.PIT has some predictive significance for depression and anxiety.(2)Positive imagery intervention(imagery script)is effective in intervening behavioral activation of depressive individuals in Chinese college students. However, the intervention of positive imagery does not directly effect the behavioral activation of depressed individuals, but works through mediation variables(PITP,?,and reflective pondering).Specifically, positive imagery interventions fully mediate depression through PITP and ?,respectively. At the same time, positive imagery interventions also effect as chain mediators for the behavioral activation of depressed individuals through ? and reflective pondering.
