Yongjia riots, the collapse of the Western Jin Dynasty, the migration of clans south of the Jin Dynasty, and the establishment of the Eastern Jin Dynasty,Liu Yu replaced the Eastern Jin Dynasty as king, the capital city in Jiankang, changed the state name to "song",after Qi,Liang,Chen, known as the "Southern Dynasty".From the collapse of the Western Jin Dynasty to the Sixteen Kingdoms period, the Xianbei nationality rose to establish the Northern Wei regime and unify the north. In the later period of the Northern Wei Dynasty,it split into the Eastern Wei Dynasty and the Western Wei Dynasty, which were replaced by the Northern Qi Dynasty and the Northern Zhou Dynasty respectively. It was known as the "Northern Dynasty".Since then,Chinese history has entered the era of the southern and Northern Dynasties.During this period,Southern calligraphy mainly inherits the style of calligraphy represented by "two kings" in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. However,in the north, the development of calligraphy is far less prosperous than that in the South due to the lack of literati involvement and the transfer of cultural center to the south along with the family. However, with the "Sinicization system" of the Northern Wei Dynasty, the calligraphy of the Northern Dynasty began to pour into the blood of the south, especially in Luoyang, the capital of Xiaowen emperor, the implementation of the "Sinicization system" and the formation of the style of admiring the Southern Dynasty. The calligraphy of the Southern Dynasty began to have a guiding position in the north, and gradually became the mainstream of the Northern Wei Dynasty, among which the most noteworthy change is regular script calligraphy. At the end of the Western Wei Dynasty,Wang Bao entered the pass, which formed the situation that "all the nobles studied Wang Bao’s calligraphy".These changes have changed the situation of "the south is beautiful and the north is ancient" for hundreds of years, and are of great significance to the research on the selection of inscriptions in the North Dynasty.Based on the cultural exchange between the north and the south, this paper discusses the development of calligraphy in the South and the north in this period according to the existing historical documents, and based on the Han system of the Northern Wei Dynasty, discusseshow the southern calligraphy spread to the north, and how the northern calligraphy presents its specific features in the process of dissemination.Through the grasp of the whole historical and cultural exchange of the southern and Northern Dynasties, the paper clearly understands the influence of the new wind of the Southern Dynasties on the calligraphy of the Northern Dynasties. And through a series of comparative studies,it restores the true appearance of the southern New Style calligraphy style that the northern steles showed in the northern and Southern Dynasties.
