Edgar Degas is a special artist in France in the 19 th century. His paintings show his artistic uniqueness.Like other Impressionist painters,he pursues instant impressions, but he refuses to directly depict light and color in nature.Degas pays attention to modern life in Paris from the perspective of realists, creates a large number of art focusing on the middle and lower social groups with vivid brushes, and attaches great importance to the drawings that Impressionists have never respected. After 1870’s,Degas gradually turned the content of his creation to realism, capturing the real life scene of the moment, describing the working state of women workers in the society, the scene of Paris city women’ s hat shop, and depicting the figures of all social strata at that time without beautification.Degas reappears the objective reality with an anti poetic attitude, which enables us to see more inner human nature through his brush. This paper uses the methods of image analysis and literature research, analyzes the process of the formation of Degas’ artistic style through Degas’ background and artistic experience, and then makes a comprehensive study of the realistic characteristics of Degas’ paintings, mainly focusing on Degas’ works about ballet dancer, washing and ironing woman, hat shop and bathing girl Painting on the theme of righteousness and the expression of painting concept.Through the study and reference of Degas art,the author of this article has a new cognition from the choice of the subject matter to the emotional expression of the work, and has carried out a series of creative practices in combination with his own feelings.
