Authors, translators, and readers respectively have their own opinions on literary works, and various subjects interact with each other in the participation in literary translation activities, forming complicated translation relationships among them under the backgrounds of distinctive society, culture and history.Literary work,as an artistic text, contains multiple levels of beauty, and the harmonious aesthetic relationships among various subjects contribute to the successful translation that satisfies the target readers' aesthetic needs.Howard Goldblatt,American sinologist, has long been engaged in the English translation of Chinese literature, helping Mo Yan win the China's first Nobel Prize in Literature, which has great model significance in Chinese culture going out at the present stage. Therefore, based on the theory of inter-subjectivity,this thesis selects the successful case of Goldblatt's translation activities to analyze the aesthetic relationships in literary translation.Through archive research and qualitative analysis,it was known that Goldblatt, according to his unique aesthetic perspective, chose those Chinese writers and their works that he likes as his translation target, and he flexibly adapted translation methods in accordance with the Western readers' preferences,by which Chinese literatures take on the charm of English literature and Western readers are able to peep through Chinese society.Through quantitative analysis,it was found that Goldblatt's translation activity was noted by more scholars at home and abroad so the related academic researches are increasing year by year.Although the research perspectives were ever-changing and updated, the previous researches mostly tended to be unilateral study about a special subject. If researchers started from the angle of aesthetic relationships among translation subjects and objects and gave interpretation by combining both macro and micro perspectives, the relevant research results would be more abundant. In the process of translating Chinese literature,Goldblatt drives the connection and communication among plenty of translation subjects, and helps to form translation relationships among various subjects and objects including translator, writer, target reader as well as text, that is,the aesthetic relationship between Goldblatt and Chinese writers,Western readers, original works and translations, through which an increasing number of Chinese literatures go to Western readers, making great contributions to enriching the world literature, bringing vitality to Chinese literary world, and driving its booming development. However,Chinese translators still have a long way to go to accomplish the mission of Chinese literary translation. In this research,Chinese translators are supposed to be able to expedite the development of Chinese-foreign language translation and facilitate China's translation causes after learning from Goldblatt's model and having overall consideration to the choice of translated texts, the target readers' aesthetic tastes, the selection of translation methods and the interactive mode of those subjects within the construction of aesthetic relationships.
