| The new English curriculum standard of junior high school puts forward that taking students as the center of English class,improving students’ learning interest and English learning efficiency become the main task of junior high school English teaching.Based on the theories of constructivism,interest theory and social cohesiveness theory,this experiment aims to study the practice of English teaching based on group cooperative learning and verify the possibility of constructing an efficient classroom.Efficient classroom includes students’ clear learning goals,high classroom efficiency,students’ active participation in learning,and achievement of higher learning objectives in class.In English class,the students participate in group learning.Students in the group have their own learning tasks.Through teacher-student cooperation and student-student cooperation,students’ ability to cooperate with others to solve difficulties is cultivated,so as to acquire more abundant knowledge and digest knowledge more quickly in the effective time of a lesson.In order to clearly describe the experimental results,this study mainly solves the following three research questions:Question 1: Compared with the control class,to what extent does group cooperative learning affect students’ interest in learning English?Question 2: Will English classes based on group cooperative learning improve students’ achievement of in-class learning goals?Question 3: Compared with the control class,what is the effect of group cooperative learning affect the students’ English achievement?The experiment was conducted in two classes in grade one of a junior high school for16 weeks.A total of 96 students from the experimental class(48 students)and the control class(48 students)participated in the experiment.The experimental class was taught by group cooperative learning,while the control class was taught by traditional teaching method.Data were collected from questionnaires and tests and the experimental results were analyzed using the SPSS19.0 tool.The experimental results show that group cooperative learning can greatly improve the interest of junior high school students in English learning and effectively improve their classroom participation.At the same time,the English class based on group cooperation can improve the achievement degree of students’ in-class learning goals and enable them to master more knowledge in limited time.Therefore,the analysis of the post-test shows that group cooperative learning can effectively improve the students’ English performance.Based on the above results,it can be shown that group cooperative learning can achieve the goal of building an efficient classroom. |
