A Study Of Mercy Thought In "The Lotus Sutra"

The Lotus Sutra is an earlier Mahayana classic.Because it "opens power and manifests its reality,it must be rough and wonderful",it contains the subtle Mahayana doctrine and is known as the "king of the scriptures".This text was first translated to China by Dharmarak? a in the seventh year of Taikang in the Western Jin Dynasty(286).Later,there were also Kumārajiva’s translations,J?ānagupta,and Dharmagupta’s updated editions.Since its dissemination in China,there have been many annotations.The style of reading,holding,and studying has been enduring,and it has had a profound influence in the history of Han Buddhist thought.I chose the compassionate thoughts in The Lotus Sutra as the research object,in order to explore the ways in which the early Mahayana classics of The Lotus Sutra showed the Mahayana Buddhist thoughts of compassion.The quintessence of the Book of Thoughts.The supreme ideal of The Lotus Sutra is "all beings have all kinds of wisdom," and the inner spirit is compassion.In other words,it is precisely because The Lotus Sutrais full of compassionate thoughts that it is possible to construct the highest ideal that "all beings have all kinds of wisdom." This compassionate thought can be traced back to the Buddha in the "D ī rgh ā gama","Since the compassion is the reason for the Four True Truths",although it contains profound Mahayana doctrine,but because the object of the statement is mainly the disciple,the ultimate goal is also It is more directed towards liberation and confusion,so the Mahayana compassionate thought is difficult to manifest.The Lotus Sutra integrates the sound and the sense of the two into the Mahayana by "One Buddha Vehicle".Through the wide opening of the four main gates of Ganlu,the spirit of Mahayana compassion is fully demonstrated.The origin of the Buddhas’ birth is to proclaim "One Buddha Vehicle" with great compassion,and guide all beings to open,show,realize,and enter into "Buddha’s insights." In the ultimate sense,"Buddha’s insights" are the essence of beings.The nature of Buddhism has compassion in it,so the Buddha can guide all beings into "One Buddha Vehicle" with great compassion.The compassionate thoughts in The Lotus Sutra are concentrated in three aspects,namely,Facilitation of Dharma,Bodhisattva Way,and View of Buddhism,in many vivid ways like "analog" and "narrative".First of all,the convenience method is the Buddha ’ s wisdom installation with great compassion as the internal motivation.For example,the elders in the "House of Fire" use the "three cars" to easily induce ignorant young children to escape from danger."Defecation" facilitates the poor to inherit their family business;"Yiyunsuoyu" in "Medicinal Herbs",Zepuchao all kinds of vegetation;"Huacheng Yu" smart and intelligentinstructors with "Huacheng" order The retired person was temporarily secured,and gradually introduced into the treasure house;in the "Yizi Yu",the loving father used "speaking and extinction" to guide the disappointed beloved child to take medicine,which is the same as the Buddha’s compassion and wisdom.Secondly,the Bodhisattva Tao is to develop and grow great compassion and achieve the practice of Buddhism.In the "Pu Men Pin",the Guanyin Bodhisattva seeks and saves sufferings,and the Buddhism shows,it is the visualization of the compassion thought;Is a bodhisattva that has six degrees of fullness and the heart of the Buddha;the "rulaishi" of Diyong Bodhisattva must be based on great compassion;the body,mouth,intention,and wish in the "Easy Walk" are all compassion to compassion The true practice of thought is also the bodhisattva behavior leading to "one Buddha ride".Finally,The Lotus Sutra uses the metaphors of "Dragon Girl Becoming Buddha" and "Pearls in Clothing" to reveal the inner basis of all beings who can become Buddhas-"Buddhist nature",so it can be said that the compassion thought of The Lotus Sutra has The qualities of Prajna,Altruism and Equality.In short,the compassionate thoughts based on the truths of the Fa in the Chinese Classics provide a theoretical basis for Mahayana Buddhism’s "no mercy",have an important impact on the Mahayana Buddhist view of Buddhism,and have inspired the Tiantai Sect’s The formation of "good and evil" thoughts.
