A Report On The C-E News Translation Of The Official Web Portal Of Yinzhou

With the growth of global exchanges,governments at all levels attempt to construct their multilingual web portals.As a part of government website,C-E news translation bridges the gap of cross-cultural exchanges.Under the guidance of Translation as Adaptation and Selection put forward by Hu Gengshen(2004),the report takes the author's translation practice material of the Official Web Portal of Yinzhou as the objects of study,discussing the translator's selection based on the adaptation to news translational eco-environment.Linguistic and non-linguistic elements of news translational eco-environment should be adapted to,covering the linguistic and cultural differences,intention of news translation,expectation of target readers,limitation of website space,etc.The translator should focus on the adaptive transformation from linguistic,cultural and communicative dimensions which are interrelated with each other.The report shows that consideration must be given to both the acceptability of target readers and the transmission of culture and information in source language.The adaptation strategy should be adopted in news translation.Addition is the first choice for translating culture-loaded words.Translation methods such as literal translation and transliteration and the technique of addition can be used to deliver the cultural connotations while preserving the original flavor.Translation techniques like division,restructuring and rewriting can be adopted to translate long and loose sentences.The key information should be highlighted with plain words and compact structures after figuring out the logic,splitting and reorganizing the sentences.Dealing with the over-redundant information,deletion is employed to make the target text more readable.The problem of semantic and rhetorical over-redundancy should be tackled through deleting people's lengthy titles,overlapping expressions and unnecessary facts.
