With the rapid development of digital technology,network technology and information technology,new media has been infiltrating into all aspects of the society,changing people’s way of life and changing the way of teaching in schools.As a pioneer major in accepting new information and new media,advertising major faces more challenges in its teaching methods.Among them,visual communication courses,as the basic design courses of advertising major,bear the brunt of practical teaching problems in the new media era.From the initial graphic design,decoration design,to comprehensive visual communication design,interactive design of digital media,dynamic design,information design,etc.,the development and change of such courses have been closely following the changes of The Times.In the new media era,visual communication courses are required to comprehensively reform practical teaching.This paper takes the practical teaching links of visual communication courses in the advertising major of W college as the research object.Through investigation,it is found that the practical teaching of visual communication courses in the advertising major of W college mainly has the following problems.Second,the practical teaching mode is simple,class hours are too short;Third,the student art foundation is poor,the practice ability is weak;Fourthly,there is a serious shortage of teaching staff and the practical teaching can be carried out to a low degree.Fifth,the laboratory equipment of practical teaching needs to be improved.Sixth,the practice base is difficult to meet the practical teaching needs.In view of the current situation of practical teaching of visual communication courses in advertising major of W college,according to the existing problems and their causes,countermeasures and Suggestions for reform and innovation of practical teaching of visual communication courses are put forward.Second,the studio system and project teaching method should be implemented in combination with the new media environment to innovate the practical teaching mode of visual communication courses.Third,focus on the cultivation of visual communication courses students good sense of design and aesthetic ability and other practical basic qualities;Fourth,to provide professional teachers with sustainable training and learning opportunities;Fifth,school-enterprise cooperation to build enterprise practice base,broaden the practice teaching platform;Sixth,optimize the function of practical teaching hardware facilities,and build a professional common and diversified laboratory.
