Attentional Bias Modification Training Towards The Subjects Of Unsuccessful Restrained Eater

Numerous studies have shown that restrained eaters have biased attention on food information and the attention and the avoidance tendency on food may increase their desire for food,Some research has already used adapted dot probe task to guide individual attention bias to food information,demonstrating the effectiveness of training of adapted dot probe task on changing attention bias to food information.In Experiment 1,it was verified whether the dot probe task is a sensitive tool for measuring attention bias when the restrained eater is the object of study and a single high-calorie food shows up.Experiment 2,on the basis of Experiment 1,selects a more sensitive eye tracking device,and the adapted dot probe task is used to conduct training for failed restraint eaters in the attention bias of high-calorie foods and attention avoidance of high-calorie food.The aim is to study the effectiveness of attentional bias training for restrained eaters,and the effect of different trainings(attention,avoidance)of attention biases on the failed restrained eater’s attention bias to high-calorie foods.Results: The main effects of the test type and probe position are not prominent in Experiment 1,only the gap for failed restrained eaters showed difficulty in attentional transfer;Before the training of Experiment 2,the grades of first fixation orienting bias on high of failed restrained eaters for high-calorie food and the grade of total dwelling time are all above 50% and the first dwelling time bias is larger than zero;After training,the first dwelling time bias of the food attention group is significantly increased and the first dwelling time bias of the attention neutral group,namely the food avoidance group is significantly decreased;Before and after the training,there was no significant changes in food craving and the hungry level of the food attention group is on the rise.Conclusion: The visual dot probe task is not suitable as a sensitive tool for measuring attentional bias changes before and after attentional bias training.When a single high-calorie food is presented,eye movement data indicated that the failed restraint eaters showed the attention model of early vigilance of high calorie foods-initial attention maintenance-the total attention maintenance.Attention bias training of adapted dot probe can effectively change the first fixation dwelling time bias of the failed restrained eaters on high-calorie food and the attention bias training enhanced the attention elimination ability of failed restrained eaters on high calorie food.First fixation orienting disappeared after the single training,but a single training cannot affect the total dwelling time and the state food craving of the failed restrained eaters and the exposure of high-calorie food may affect the hunger level of them.
