| Grammar is an important part in the learning process of a second language.Grammar teaching plays a vital role in junior high school English teaching.However,in the current teaching practice,a large number of teachers pay attention to the explanation of grammar rules,but ignore the use of grammar in authentic contexts.As a result,the effect of grammar teaching is far from satisfactory.To improve the situation,this action research is conducted by applying PACE(Presentation,Attention,Co-construction and Extension)model into English grammar teaching in junior high school.This study mainly addresses the following two research questions.(1)What are the effects of PACE model on junior high school students’ grammar learning?(2)What are the problems and solutions in the application of PACE model? The research instruments include questionnaires,interview,reflective journals and tests.The researcher carried out two rounds of action research in total and the whole study lasted for twelve weeks.The subjects were the students who came from a junior high school in Shenyang,Liaoning province.A total of forty-five students in the third year of junior high school participated in this study.The procedures of the action research involved identifying problems,making the action plan,implementing the action plan,and evaluation and reflection.Based on the summary and analysis of the first round of action research,the second round of action research was implemented.The researcher analyzed the data of questionnaires and tests with the help of SPSS 22.0.What’s more,the researcher read the interviews and reflective journals repeatedly.The results of the study indicate that PACE model has a positive effect on junior high school students’ grammar learning.First of all,the PACE model are beneficial for students to better master the grammar form,meaning and use.Secondly,the PACE model can improve students’ English competence in communication.However,there are still some problems occurred during the process of two rounds of action research,for example,most students have difficulties in grammar use and the teacher makes too many corrections in the course of communication.In view of the problems,corresponding solutions are adopted.Due to the influence of many factors,this study need to be further improved. |
